1What is EVAR / TEVAR?
Endovascular repair of Abdominal or Thoracic aortic aneurysm is known as EVAR and TEVAR, respectively
2Why it is performed?
It is performed to prevent rupture of aneurysm and subsequent death due to massive blood loss which occurs following rupture of aneurysm
3How it is performed?
It is a less invasive procedure, wherein a major operation is avoided. It is performed in cath lab under fluoroscopic guidance like an angioplasty. A large tube graft ( fabric supported by metal framework) is inserted into the diseased aorta.
4What is the duration of hospitalization?
About 2 or 3 days
5What are the complications of EVAR / TEVAR?
Infection, Stent migration, Persistent dilatation of aorta, etc can occur in few patients
